What the four letters mean

Every four-letter code is built from four either/or preferences. Nobody sits entirely at one end of any of them — the letter records which side you lean to, not a category you are locked into.

I / E — where energy comes from: recharging alone and thinking in private, or drawing energy from people and thinking out loud.
S / N — what you notice first: concrete facts, detail and what is actually there, or patterns, implications and what could be.
T / F — how you decide: by logic and consistency, or by values and the effect on the people involved.
J / P — how you handle the outside world: wanting plans, structure and closure, or keeping options open and improvising.
